Step 1
Spray a pan with low calorie spray and fry the beef meatballs for 3-4 minutes to brown.
Step 2
Pour in the passata, tomato purée, oregano and a pinch of sweetener. Mix well and simmer for 6-8 minutes to reduce the sauce then, if using, crumble over half a beef stock cube.
Step 3
Season with salt and pepper then tear in the basil leaves.
Step 4
Melt the butter in a small bowl then mix in the garlic granules and dried parsley. Spread over the top halves of sliced ciabatta.
Step 5
Place the bottom of the ciabattas in the air fryer, load them with the meatballs and slices of mozzarella, then place on the top halves of the ciabatta.
Step 6
Air fry on 200C for 3 minutes and enjoy!

Hiya, made the meatball sub today for lunch, the hubby and I really enjoyed it. Can I check on the amount of meatballs you include for 1 person. The pack I bought was 12 meatballs, pack weight 350g (noting recipe says 340g) so I used them all - 6 each. The total calories came out at 632 per portion (294 for the meatballs) - so feel I got something wrong 🤷♀️ as 150 cals more than the 475 noted on the recipe. Used reduced fat mozzarella at 98 cals for 60g and I used a protein flatbread at 224 cals which lower than my normal ciabatta roll. Butter was 78 cals for the tablespoon.

Hey Jill good questions! The total calories for 12 Aldi 5% Skinny meatballs is just 436 calories! so per portion for the meatballs I used it'll be 218 calories each potion, for 6. Here's my nutrition info for the ingredients and brands I used so I hope that helps :)
